Giving Back
These last couple years have been a difficult one for all of us. We have had to establish a new normal and find a new way to operate. Despite the pandemic and economic hardship our community has faced this last year, the MSCY was still able to bring the community together to raise money for both our Holiday Blessings Program and our Military Dependent Scholarship Fund & Community Support Program. Combined with donations and proceeds from the Waylon’s Water World raffle, we were able to award a total of $10,000 to five scholarship recipients this year!
We are a small chapter, but one invested in our base and our community. Please help us continue to support our local military community by donating to one of our two philanthropic programs.

Holiday Blessings
The MSCY’s Holiday Blessings program directly supports Yuma-based military personnel in need through commissary (grocery) gift cards during the Thanksgiving and holiday season. Gift cards are distributed by partnering with the Sergent Majors of each unit, who then ensure that they reach service members with a demonstrated need for support.
Commissary gift cards typically range between $25 and $100 per family. While it may seem small, this support goes a long way in helping families make ends meet during the holiday season!
In addition to donating directly to this program at the link below, you’ll find Holiday Blessing jars at business aboard MCAS Yuma, including Desert Perk Coffee, MCX Mini Marts, and the Marine Corps Exchange throughout the entire year. A little bit goes a long way - consider dropping your spare change in one of these jars next time you spot one on base!
Military Dependent Scholarship Fund & Community Support Program
Each year, the MSCY raises money for educational scholarships for Yuma-based military dependents (including children and spouses). We host a benefit dinner and auction each spring to raise funds for these programs. See Annual Benefit tab above.
In 2022, we provided 5 educational scholarships through our Military Dependent Scholarship Fund, with a total of $10,000 awarded!

General Operating Fund
The MSCY’s general operating fund ensures we maximize our opportunities to give back to the Yuma area military community. A large portion of our operating funds are used for the operating costs of our Annual Spring Benefit, in turn, all proceeds from the event can be used toward scholarships and donations. Funds are also used for back-office costs such as accounting software and website costs. A donation to our general operating fund ensures the MSCY will be able to continue to provide community support for many years to come!
